Maitra is a Jakarta based journalist. He started his career in 2006 and has covered stories on different topics, ranging from environment, health, travel, to art and culture. 

Bayu has been a finalist on Aku Cinta Indonesia 2011 – a travel writing competition held by, Winner of the 2013 National Commission on Tobacco Control Media Award, Indonesia’s Emerging Writer on the 2013 Ubud Writers and Readers Festival, Winner of the 2014 Aliansi Masyarakat Adat Nusantara (AMAN)-Indigenous Voice Asia (IVA) Media Award, and Winner of the 2015 Alliance of Independent Journalist (AJI)-UNICEF Media Awards. He received “Reporting on Sustainable Economic Development” fellowship from Asia Pacific Journalism Centre (APJC), Melbourne.

Bayu lives in suburban Jakarta, adores life and is opposed to the slaughter of animals. “Natural” and “karma” are his two favorite words. He chooses spirituality over religion, and books over television. Music is his constant companion when he is working.
