Bayu Maitra is a Jakarta based journalist. He started his career in 2006, and since then, he has covered stories on different topics, ranging from environment, health, travel, to art and culture. Bayu has been a finalist on Aku Cinta Indonesia 2011, a travel writing competition held by Detik.com. He was also one of the Indonesia’s Emerging Writer at Ubud Writers and Readers Festival 2013, and the First Winner of Aliansi Masyarakat Adat Nusantara (AMAN) Media Award 2014. He received the “Sustainable Economic Development” fellowship from the Asia Pacific Journalism Centre.
Bayu lives in suburban Jakarta, adores life and is opposed to the slaughter of animals. “Natural” and “karma” are his two favorite words. He chooses spirituality over religion, and books over television. Music is his constant companion when he is working. He now is an editor at Reader’s Digest Indonesia.
